Officer Chisom credited with saving life of overdose victim in Penn Yan

Penn Yan Police Officer Derek Chisom is credited with saving the life of an overdose victim this past weekend, according to a press release from the department.

Officers were called to a home in the village for the report of a male unconscious. Upon arrival, it was determined that the indivudal on the floor had overdosed.

Police say a needle was located near the victim, and he was blue in the face.

Officer Chisom administered two doses of naloxone and performed sternum rubs, which worked to revive the individual.

The male was taken to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for further treatment.

Penn Yan Police have administered naloxone four times in 2018, according to a press release.
