A former elected official and two-time state Senate candidate from Westchester County has been chosen to be presumptive Republican gubernatorial nominee Marc Molinaro’s running mate.
Molinaro’s campaign announced Sunday that Julie Killian, a married mother of five and a former deputy mayor and city councilor in Rye, will join the GOP ticket.
“Julie Killian is a champion for people who have no voice, who are left behind, who are in crisis and she will never back down from the challenges that are facing our state,” Molinaro said in a statement. “I’m proud to have Julie as my partner in this campaign to restore New Yorkers’ belief in the future of our state.”
Killian was recommended by a panel Molinaro established in April to select a running mate. The committee led by former Pataki administration official John Cahill and Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo considered more than 20 candidates for the position.
