Batman kicks off NY Assembly campaign with Auburn fundraiser

There was no signal needed for Batman to appear at this event.

Cayuga County Legislator Keith Batman formally launched his campaign for state Assembly by holding a fundraiser Sunday at the Phoenix Building in Auburn.

Batman, a Democrat, is challenging state Assemblyman Gary Finch. Finch, R-Springport, represents the 126th Assembly District which includes parts of Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland and Onondaga counties. The entire city of Auburn is within the district.

Former Cayuga County Democratic Chairwoman Katie Lacey introduced Batman at the fundraiser. She believes Democrats have an opportunity to win several seats this year, and the 126th district is a target.

Lacey also praised Batman, who is a former chairman of the Cayuga County Legislature and previously served as Scipio town supervisor.

“He knows what the state can do for us if we had an effective representative,” she said.
