RG&E and NYSEG will pay $3.9 million in a settlement stemming from the 2017 windstorm.
RG&E will pay $2.8 million and NYSEG will pay $1.1 million in regard to 12 alleged violations found after the March 2017 storm, during which hundreds of thousands of customers lost power.
The $3.9 million will be utilized to, “increase resiliency and improve emergency response in the areas impacted by the March Windstorm.”
Following the windstorm, the Department of Public Service began investigating RG&E and NYSEG’s preparedness for the storm. A report published later in the year found the companies’ response to have been, “poor.”
