Bell’s five-hitter lifts Lansing over Edison in Class C baseball final

Lansing and Thomas A. Edison had played two tight games earlier this season in which neither team scored more than three runs. That left a sense the Bobcats escaping a bases-loaded, no-out situation unscathed in the opening inning Friday night would end up a clutch moment in the teams’ Section 4 Class C baseball final at Binghamton University.

As it turned out, Lansing junior right-hander Garrett Bell gave the Spartans few chances after that, pitching a five-hitter to help the Bobcats to a 3-1 victory over the defending champion Spartans.
