It’s not a billboard and it’s not an advertisement.
But the hope is that a new mural that soon will brighten the inside of the pavilion at the Canandaigua Farmers Market, which opens for its 17th season at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, will help to build awareness of the market on Mill Street and the goods offered by its vendors.
Artist Amy Colburn, who has completed the train station mural at the Main Street railroad tracks and was the designer and lead artist on the large “History Happened Here” mural on Coach Street, is painting the mural.
In fact, she will be starting to paint the mural Saturday during the market’s opening and is expected to also be painting the following Saturday.
“We really want it to be something that is attractive and also puts the farmers market at the top of people’s mind, even when the market is not in session,” Colburn said. “It will get people to really be thinking about planning for the market and saving their Saturday mornings for this kind of shopping experience.”
