Police: Skimming device may have captured 2,000+ transactions in Canandaigua

Police say the skimming device that was found on a pump at a well-traveled gas station on South Main Street in Canandaigua could have been there for months – capturing more than 2,000 transactions.

The skimming device was located at the ‘A Plus Mini Mart’ gas station. Police say it was discovered on May 20th, but could have been placed there on Pump #1 at the station – as far back as November 2017.

“If you believe that you may have used Pump #1 during the time in question, please contact the Canandaigua Police Department so we can verify if your name was discovered on the skimming device,” the department said in a press released.

Detective Mastracy is leading the investigation – and can be reached by e-mail at PJM@canandaiguanewyork.gov.
