Skaneateles interim principal promoted to role at Waterman Primary School

The principal of Waterman Primary School in Skaneateles should look familiar to district students.

Patrick Brown, the Skaneateles Central School District's longtime kindergarten- to 12th-grade reading and humanities coordinator and the interim leader of State Street Intermediate School and Waterman Primary School since April, was appointed as the Waterman school principal at a district board of education Thursday night.

Brown had been the interim principal since Christopher Casler-Goncalves resigned from the position as principal of both schools on April 13.

District superintendent Ken Slentz said during the meeting that choosing Brown for the Waterman spot was "an easy decision" for the district. Slentz said after the meeting that given student enrollment, the needs of students and other factors, the district felt it would be best to have two elementary principals. The search for an intermediate school principal is down to two candidates and the district is hoping to have a choice by July 10, Slentz said. The district's administrative team will meet Monday to decide what will be done with the reading and humanities coordinator heading position into the next school year.
