Parrott Hall preservationists plead for more time with state

A host of preservation groups, backed by the city, are asking state officials to delay the demolition of Parrott Hall, the first home of the Geneva Ag Station.

On Thursday, leaders of the Friends of Parrott Hall, the Landmark Society of Western New York, the Preservation League of New York State, as well as Acting City Manager Sage Gerling, representing City Council, pleaded with the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to give them more time to form a plan to preserve the historic building, which has some significant damage, mostly because of a leaking roof. Little maintenance has been done to the building since it was turned over to the state in 1975.
