A woman was arrested earlier this month at Cayuga Correctional Facility after throwing a computer monitor at an officer, union officials said.
According to the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association, the incident occurred at around 9:05 a.m., Saturday, June 9, when a Binghamton woman entered the medium-security facility in Moravia to visit an inmate.
NYSCOPBA said the woman was instructed to change her clothes because her outfit was “inappropriate.” Then, after leaving and returning in different clothing, the woman allegedly began talking on her cell phone, which was prohibited inside the facility.
When told to secure her phone in her car or a locker at the prison, NYSCOPBA said, the woman grabbed a computer monitor off a desk in the administration building and hurled it at a female officer, striking her in the wrist and left side of the face. She also kicked at two other officers before becoming compliant.
