AD resigns, interim HS principal identified as Waterloo schools enter summer

School officials in Waterloo say that Athletic Director Jeff Panek resigned his position.

Brad Dates, who has been serving as interim athletic director will continue to serve in the interim role through the month of July, according to those officials with knowledge of the situation.

The subject came up at Monday night’s Board of Education meeting, in which the high school’s principal position also came up.

Waterloo High School, who saw 2017-18’s principal step back to assistant principal, will have new interim leadership. At the same session Susan Salvaggio, a former principle and superintendent, was identified as the interim principal.

High school principal candidates will be interviewed in the coming weeks, and staff will learn of the process to find the district’s next athletic director in the coming weeks as well.

Specific times and dates for these processes were not highlighted.

The administrative shakeup is the latest news out of the district, which started several weeks ago with the the contract dispute between Superintendent Terri Bavis and the Board of Education.

While a short-term solution was reached, parents in Waterloo are anxious for stability to return to their hometown school district.
