MONDAY MORNING HEAT ADVISORY REPORT:

It’s going to be a hot, humid day in the Finger Lakes on Monday.

Temperatures are going to push into the low-90s throughout most of the area, with only a minor chance for a shower or thunderstorm, which is desperately needed. The heat won’t last too long, as temperatures will settle on Tuesday, and a better chance for rain will arrive by Tuesday, as well.

That dry weather isn’t yet classified as ‘drought’, but the region is locked into ‘abnormally dry’ status, which is the precursor to official drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Thunderstorms will be possible in the morning on Tuesday, but those showers and storms will give way to another stretch of drier, warm weather. After Wednesday, when temperatures will be at their lowest – they will rise again through the beginning of the weekend.

In the meantime, though, a heat advisory will be active through Monday. If headed outdoors, stay hydrated and keep outdoor activity limited if possible.
