Specific objections have been filed to the Green Party nominating petitions of David Ettman and the Independence Party petitions of Barry Porsch, candidates for Seneca County judge.
But the Seneca County Board of Elections will not rule on the objections until Monday, July 30.
Election Commissioners Carl Same and Tiffany Folk are at a training conference the rest of the week, delaying their examination of the petitions and a ruling on their validity.
The general objections of Ailene Phillips of 10 Rumsey St., Seneca Falls, to the Ettman and Porsch petitions were followed up with specific objections by the deadline, requiring the Board of Elections to make a ruling.
Phillips claims that Porsch’s Independence Party petitions requires 51 valid signatures of Independence Party members. She noted that Porsch submitted 81 signatures, but she claims 46 were not valid.
Some of the specific objections were that signers were not enrolled Independence Party members, a page of petitions with 19 signatures was dated before the permissible petition circulation date, an indecipherable signature, three signers signed the Independence petition of another candidate and an alleged discrepancy in one of the witness statements.
