Three tries, and the City of Auburn has finally won the $10 million Downtown Revitalization funds it has been seeking.
Governor Andrew Cuomo visited Auburn on Friday to announce that the city won the prize. It was the third attempt the city had made to win those funds, and now a number of projects will be up for completion.
The Downtown Revitalization Initiative, or DRI was designed to create competition around developing and re-energizing downtown spaces across New York.

Oswego and Cortland were the previous two winners in the region, which sits in the eastern Finger Lakes and is known as the Central New York Economic Development Region.
“I love Auburn,” Cuomo said. “I hope you don’t take it for granted. It is a jewel. It really is a jewel.”
