Deputies: Shortsville woman received $10K in assistance illegally

A 28-year-old Shortsville resident was arrested following an investigation into public assistance fraud in Ontario County.

On July 25th Amanda Jo Tillman, 28, was arrested after failing to report the father of her child living with her for a time she was receiving public assistance.

As result, Ontario County Department of Social Services determined that she received $10,058 that she was not entitled to receive in benefits.

She was charged with offering a false instrument for filing and issued an appearance ticket.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
