Just in time for the new school year, the Victor Central School District has a new website that is easier to use to find information.
“It’s pretty easy to navigate,” Dave Henderson, director of Computer Services, told members of the Board of Education during a July meeting during which he and Sherri Lasky, of the Office of School and Community Relations, presented a preview. “This is far cleaner and much easier to find the information.”
The new site, featuring school colors and a simple new logo developed by Lasky, was officially launched Tuesday afternoon.
“Our main focus on this site, by far, is our parents,” Lasky said. “Getting them the information they need quickly and easily.”
The homepage features district photos that cycle through, changing every five seconds. At the top are links that appear on every page for the staff directory, job opportunities, students, staff and a drop-down feature on the parents tab to help them easily find pertinent information.
A click on the “attendance” tab takes them to district policies regarding notifying the school of a child’s absence. “Health information” includes a pop-up box notifying of a new change in required state health exams.
“We wanted to make sure every parent knew that, so we popped that notice up,” Henderson said, noting the pop-ups can be put on specific pages or all of them.
