Troopers investigate drowning in Union Springs

State Police are investigating a drowning that happened in Union Springs late last week.

On July 26th around 10 pm troopers were called out for a missing person report at the Hibiscus Harbor Marina where a 64-year-old man had disappeared. At the time, people at the marina thought it might be unusual that they hadn’t seen him, which resulted in the missing person report.

Around 11:30 p.m., the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Union Springs Fire Department and Cayuga Water Rescue were also dispatched to the scene to assist troopers in a search of the area.

The man’s body was eventually found in the water, state police said.

No identity had been released at this point, but investigators remain actively investigating the incident.
