Deputies: Farmington woman received nearly $20K in assistance illegally

Deputies say a 35-year-old Farmington resident was taken into custody on welfare fraud charges after nearly $20,000 worth of benefits were obtained illegally.

Vilmary Osario, 35, of Farmington was charged with six counts of offering a false instrument for filing after an investigation initiated by Ontario County Department of Social Services determined that between March 2017 and August 2018 – she received $19,983.50 in SNAP and Childcare benefits that she was not entitled to receive.

Deputies say that Osario failed to report a spouse living at her address.

She will answer the charges at a later date, and be charged with one additional count of welfare fraud.
