Naples man suffers serious leg injury after chainsaw incident

Deputies say a 23-year-old Naples man is recovering from a serious leg injury after an incident involving a chainsaw on Saturday.

The whole thing happened around 12:45 pm when Nathan Deneef, and his brother, Joshua, were limbing an oak tree to clear for a tree stand. They were standing approximately 7 to 8 feet above ground, along County Road 12.

Once the saw penetrated the limb, the weight of the saw combined with Nathan applying pressure brought the chainsaw down onto his left thigh.

The saw caused a severe laceration. Deputies say Joshua applied a tourniquet and called 911.

Naples Fire Department and Naples Ambulance responded to the scene.

Deputies say Deneef was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
