Counseling Center expands hours in Waterloo

Longer hours and better availability.

The Seneca County Community Counseling Center, as part of Seneca County Mental Health is expanding service hours for local residents.

It’s a big change for Seneca County as they move to make services – like those administered in the mental health building – more readily available.

“We have been offering open access hours in our Addictions Clinic for months now with great success. Individuals can receive same day substance use disorder evaluations on a walk-in basis,” explained Margaret Morse, who serves as Director of Community Services for Seneca County. “The expanded hours for The Seneca County Community Counseling Center’s Mental Health Clinic will begin September 4th.”

Anyone interested in mental health services will be able to walk-in without an appointment. Each day will feature different hours to accommodate those residents who have fluctuating schedules.

“It’s similar to the urgent care model,” explained Morse, who noted that this would be a significant improvement for those living in Seneca County, who require treatment or attention – but were previously discouraged due to issues around scheduling.

There will be an RN available during most of these hours, according to Morse, which will help with screening individuals for medication assisted treatments.

The new setup will take effect on September 4th.
