Local woman says nursing home in Wayne County is neglecting her mom

Lekeisha Denman-Duvall is having trouble sleeping.

“It is very upsetting. I cry,” she says.

She says she took pictures of her mom, Susan Denman’s, room at “Blossom View Nursing Home.”

“There was pee that was dried up,” she claims. “Like she had been laying in it. The drawers were moldy, they were so disgusting.”

Denman-Duvall says her mom suffers from dementia. Her family put her into “Blossom View” about a year ago.

She says, at first, things were okay. But last month, when she went to visit, she couldn’t believe her eyes.

“It was disgusting. It was just putrid,” she said.

This is not the first time this nursing home has had a complaint filed against it.

According to the State Department of Health website, there have been 156 complaints reported from June 2014 until May of this year. Over that same four-year period, the state says the facility has received 90 citations. According to the Department of Health, all of them have been corrected.

But in Denman-Duvall’s case, one incident was enough. She says she cleaned the mess herself and is now looking to relocate her mom.

“What if it was your mother?” she asked. “What if it was your grandmother? What if it was your cousin, your bother, your sister? What if it was you?”
