PRIMARY PREVIEW: Candidates for sheriff in Ontario County face off this week

Two candidates vying to succeed longtime Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero say voters have an important choice to make this week.

On Thursday, a Republican primary will be held to determine the candidate that will take on Democrat, Kevin Henderson. Those candidates facing off are Bob Green and Silvio Palermo, both of which tout lengthy careers in law enforcement.

“This has been something that’s been true to my heart,” Palermo explained during an appearance on Inside the FLX. “If you look at the history of the office, and look at the standards intended to be upheld – my campaign puts those things in the forefront.”

The candidate also noted that experience, energy, and desire to do right all drive him on a daily basis.

Green also touted experience. “I have years of experience, learning, developing relationships, and doing the things necessary to be the best candidate for sheriff,” he said during his own appearance on the program.

Editor’s Note: While Kevin Henderson will not appear on the primary ballot this Thursday, his appearance on the program can be seen here.
