FLX FORECAST: Flood Watch issued as Florence moves in

Parts of the Finger Lakes may see some tropical moisture from what’s left of Florence.

The storm, which paralyzed parts of North Carolina and South Carolina will make its way northward on Monday – bringing the risk for steady rain in the Southern Tier and Southern Finger Lakes before daybreak on Tuesday.

The rainfall will begin making its way into New York during the evening hours, before becoming steady overnight.

Forecasters say the the rain will quickly head out of the area on Tuesday, but note that it could be flooding rains for those in the Southern Tier and Southern Finger Lakes – due to rains that have already fallen in the last two months.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for parts of the area.

Temperatures will remain warm and late-summer-like through the end of the week, before things finally cool off for the official start of fall.
