Multiple charges for Canandaigua woman following pursuit

The Canandaigua Police Department reports the arrest of a 20-year-old driver following a vehicle pursuit that happened on Tuesday around 8:14 pm.

Autumn Smith, 20, was charged with reckless endangerment, DWAI-drugs, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, speeding, and a variety of other traffic offenses after the incident, which started as an investigation along the City Pier.

When police attempted to stop Smith’s vehicle – she sped away, prompting the pursuit through the southern end of the city. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police assisted when the pursuit exited the city’s borders.

Deputies used stop sticks to stop her vehicle on State Route 5&20 in the area of McCann Road, at which point she fled on foot into a field.

She was later taken into custody and held at the Ontario County Jail pending arraignment.
