The Commons on St. Anthony opened a new wing on the terrace level of the Auburn nursing facility's rehabilitation floor. The 10-bed unit brings the facility to a capacity of 60 beds for short-term rehabilitation, helping it meet the increasing demand in the community.
A ribbon-cutting for the wing was held Monday, Sept. 17, when the first short-term rehab resident moved to the floor.
The new wing offers short-term rehab and care for post-surgery recovery, orthopedic clinical specialty programs, diabetes management, physical, occupational and speech therapy, pain management, wound care, intravenous antibiotic therapy and respiratory therapy with an on-site respiratory therapist. It also offers daily therapeutic and recreation programs, safe outdoor walking paths and a patio.
“This is a great milestone, not only in recognition of the services that we provide, but it is also an acknowledgement of the growth of our staff at this facility,” building administrator Dan Morphet said in a news release.
