Crews battle fire at furniture warehouse in Palmyra

Firefighters battled a structure fire in Palmyra Friday night.

Crews were called to Throop Street for the report of a fire around 7 p.m.

The fire happened at Bob's Family Furniture.

Palmyra residents Jim and Zatina Sanderson saw the fire while driving by Friday night.

“It was just a big cloud of smoke and then we pulled over and we got out," said Zatina Sanderson. "All you saw was flames coming from the window and then all of the sudden a huge gust of flames coming out the side of the building."

They told 13WHAM's Samantha Miles that the furniture warehouse is about a block in size and owned by a local family.

"It was kind of sad, upsetting. I mean this is a huge factory, warehouse for furniture in our town and now all of the sudden it’s a total loss,” Sanderson said.
