Canandaigua Fire Department holds recruitment event

Monday night the Canandaigua Fire Department held a recruitment event to help more people get involved.

A study was done earlier this summer by the Center for Public Safety Management. During the study the center stated that the department’s staffing was “substandard and provides a false sense of security.” The Canandaigua Fire Department currently has less than 10 full-time firefighters and 6 volunteers. The city and town were told to increase their recruiting efforts.

To help with the process, American Fire House was brought in. They travel nationwide to encourage stations to take the resigns when it comes to recruiting. They use music as their platform to get more people involved.
