Public input wanted for Auburn’s $10M Downtown Revitalization Initiative

There will be several opportunities for Auburn residents to give their input on the city’s $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative grant during the month of October.

On Sept. 25, members of the DRI Local Planning Committee met for the first time to discuss how the process of using the $10 million awarded by the state will move forward. The committee, made up of representatives from various organizations and agencies in the city, will be tasked with developing a strategic investment plan. This plan is essentially a list of projects that will be submitted to that state. The state will have the final say in which projects receive funding and how much. Projects that were included in the city of Auburn’s initial application are not guaranteed to be funded.

An open call for proposals began Monday and will run through Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. During this time, anyone with an idea for a project they would like to have included in the strategic investment plan is welcome to submit an application for consideration. More information about the types of projects that will be considered can be found with the application at auburnsparks.com/dri/call-for-proposals. The application can be submitted online or a hard copy can be found at Memorial City Hall.
