Troopers still looking for driver that fled after pursuit in Enfield

State Police are searching for a driver who fled authorities when they tried to pull him over.

Prior to the attempted traffic stop, the driver also hit a car. It all happened on Tuesday around 6:30 pm on Enfield Main Road.

The Dodge Caravan led police on a four-mile pursuit, during which the driver struck another vehicle traveling the same direction.

Following the crash, the driver fled into the woods.



The name of the suspect was not released.

The passenger in the suspect’s van was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. That passenger, identified as Melissa M. Cady, of Ithaca was found with a small quantity of methamphetamine.

Cady was released on appearance tickets.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck during the pursuit was transported to Cayuga Medical Center.
