Bail lowered for accused serial Sephora shoplifter

On Thursday, Isabella Kuo, 34, of Syracuse appeared in court alongside her attorney and requested a decrease in bail. She was initially arrested back in September for allegedly entering Eastview Mall on two different occasions and stealing over $900 worth of merchandise from her third different Sephora store.

“With the circumstances surrounding this individual there’s are a lot of unanswered questions,” said Jason MacBride, Ontario County First Assistant District Attorney. “She provided at least three different names to law enforcement, so we’re still trying to find out more.”

Kuo was banned from Sephora in relationship to an incident at a store in California, and furthermore has pending legal charges for stealing from the chain at the Destiny USA Mall in Oneonta County, said MacBride.

During court proceedings Kuo’s attorney, Jennifer Kehoe, from the Ontario County Public Defender’s Office, stated that she has made contact with her client’s family, hoping for a lower bail by claiming Kuo isn’t your typical accused criminal and has a Masters Degree. Ontario County Court Judge Frederick Reed agreed to lower her bail to $2,500/cash or $5,000 bond.

The District Attorney’s Office has security camera footage as part of their evidence in the allegations against Kuo. They say Kuo was selling stolen merchandise online.
