Phelps woman allowed disabled person in her care to become ‘malnourished’

Deputies say a 60-year-old Phelps woman was arrested after an investigation into a person she was charged with caring for.

Cheryl Zwerger, 60, was charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person in the first degree after an investigation revealed that the adult victim – was mildly malnourished.

Deputies did not detail the extent of the malnourishment.

After the arrest, Zwerger was held at the Ontario County Jail pending arraignment.

The charges will be answered at a later date.
