It’s all about creating more opportunities.
Cayuga Community College President Dr. Brian Durant and Le Moyne College President Dr. Linda LeMura signed a formal agreement enhancing opportunities for Cayuga students to further their education at the prestigious four-year college in Syracuse.
The transfer agreement allows accomplished Cayuga students graduating from one of a dozen Associate of Science or Associate of Arts degree programs to continue their education by enrolling in specific Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree programs at Le Moyne.
Under the agreement, Cayuga students interested in furthering their education at Le Moyne can maximize their transfer of credits by following a specific plan of study allowing them to earn an Associate’s Degree in two years and subsequently earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Le Moyne in two years.
“This agreement creates an incredible opportunity for our current and future students, one that allows them to pursue their goals at one of the strongest four-year colleges in the Northeast,” said President Durant. “Le Moyne has outstanding programs, talented faculty and a student-centric approach to higher education, one that will doubtlessly benefit our graduates. We’re proud to partner with them for this exciting initiative.”
“We are proud to partner with Cayuga Community College, which, like Le Moyne, has long been a well-respected institution serving many first-generation students,” said President LeMura. “This formal agreement will benefit student from both colleges by making a transfer to Le Moyne a seamless process.”
Representatives from both colleges will work with Cayuga students interested in enrolling at Le Moyne to help them through the transfer process. Today Le Moyne faculty members will visit more than 10 courses to meet with Cayuga students and inform them about the opportunity to continue their education after earning their Associate’s Degree, and the agreement also establishes the potential for Le Moyne staff to offer special orientation and advisement sessions or individual appointments for students at Cayuga.
As part of the agreement, Cayuga students will generally be accepted into Le Moyne after earning an Associate’s Degree that supports direct entrance into a specific Bachelor Degree program. Cayuga students must also earn a cumulative grade point average required by the Bachelor Degree program.
Associate Degree programs at Cayuga that are included in the agreement include Business Administration, Media Communications and certain Humanities and Social Sciences concentrations. In addition to the agreement with CCC, Le Moyne announced Transfer (TR) Promise – a scholarship and career-readiness program for transfer students. The core of the TR Promise is an automatic scholarship of $2,500 per academic year, up to $8,750 over three-and-a-half years for full-time, incoming transfer students. This is on top of any other merit or need-based assistance. For transfer students seeking additional opportunities while completing their bachelor’s degree, the College will assist them with the other elements of the TR Promise. These include on-time graduation, connecting with a mentor, completing a challenging internship and interviewing with a Le Moyne alum.
