The Victor Blue Devils will play their sectional quarterfinal game with heavy hearts as one of their defensive leaders is dealing with the worst kind of adversity.
Junior linebacker Camden Hay’s father, Tim, was in a horrible car accident on Sunday on the way to a work trade show. He and one of his coworkers were hit head-on by a tractor-trailer truck near Akron, Ohio.
Tim Hay had to be airlifted to Akron General Hospital and has already had two surgeries. He broke both of his legs, an arm, his ribs and his pelvis in the crash.
The Victor community quickly sprang into action, and running back Joey Pezzimenti’s mother helped start a GoFundMe with the goal of $50,000. On Tuesday evening the fund had already raised more than $30,000.
Camden Hay didn’t find out the news until a police officer arrived at his door searching for his mother Shannon.
