Sennett development: One business looks to relocate, another to plant roots

Two businesses, one a repair shop another a rental equipment and construction materials shop, came before Sennett’s Planning Board Thursday night for preliminary site plan reviews.

An Auburn auto repair shop, Xcelerated Auto, is looking to relocate to Mutton Hill Road in Sennett.

The project proposes building a 10,368-square-foot service garage on a roughly 2.5 acre site on Mutton Hill Road, neighboring Main & Pickney Equipment at 7033 Mutton Hill Road and Casella Waste Management at 7025 Mutton Hill Road. The lot is zoned at Commercial – Light Industrial.

The current auto shop — which sells used cars, works on domestic and foreign vehicles, offers inspections, brakes, shocks, diagnostics and more — is currently situated on less than an acre at 191 Grant Ave. in Auburn.

“I’m just excited to get going, it’s been a long time coming. I’ve been in a horse barn for 16 years now, and I’m ready to get out,” Joe Gagliano said at the meeting.

During the preliminary site plan review with Sennett’s planning board, Joseph Durand, the project’s engineer from TDK Engineering Associates, said the “plan is good to go to the county” for the Cayuga County Planning and Economic Development GML 239 review.

“I think as an initial glance here, it looks pretty good,” planning board member Jeremy Bacon said.
