Joyous day in court as two families celebrate adoption in Canandaigua

As families across the nation Fridaycelebrated National Adoption Day with official adoptions, Judge Brian Dennis had the honor of officiating two ceremonies in Ontario County.

During the ceremony, one 13-year-old boy joined a loving home in Naples and a 3-year-old boy joined a farm family in Rushville.

“We knew from the day he walked into our door that he was going to become a member of our family,” said Greg Miller, who along with his wife Rachel adopted 13-year-old Joshua. “He just clicked with our family.”

The Miller family welcomed Joshua into their home six months ago and have worked closely with the Ontario County Department of Social Services.

“The foster program in Ontario County is awesome,” said Miller, as Joshua took some time to get a view of the courtroom right from the judge’s chair. “I encourage anyone to work with them and give these kids a home.”

The second adoption was of a 3 year-old boy. The family asked not to be named in the article but gladly spoke to Messenger Post Media and approved publication of the images.

“He’s enjoying being at the farm with us,” said the proud Dad as the child joins numerous other brothers and sisters. “He’s walking around tossing grain on the barn floor to feed the cows. It’s wonderful.”
