A new Auburn holiday tradition, ‘Scrooge’ musical returns this weekend

The Auburn Citizen

A new holiday tradition in Auburn will continue this weekend when three of the city’s theatrical organizations team to present “Scrooge: The Musical” for the third year.

Staged by Auburn Players Community Theatre and Harlequin Productions, and hosted by Auburn Public Theater, the show adapts Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” The 1992 musical is based on the 1971 film of the same name starring Albert Finney as Scrooge, and adds songs like “Thank You Very Much” to the classic tale of the miser being warned by ghosts that his ways will have dire consequences in the afterlife.

Bill Daugherty is director and Kristan Sheppard is musical director, and the returning cast and crew includes Thames Nolan as Ebenezer Scrooge and Bob Miller as Jacob Marley.

Performance times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15, 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. The theater is located at 8 Exchange St., Auburn.
