A State Trooper and her young passenger were hospitalized Sunday night after a 23-year-old struck the police car after running a red light.
Troopers say Molly J. Donovan, 23, of Ithaca went through a red light on Sunday around 8:51 p.m. at the intersection of Route 13 and West Buffalo Street.
She was traveling east on West Buffalo Street and hit the driver’s side of the marked troopers car. Both the trooper and passenger were injured.
They were transported to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Police say they were released from the hospital.
Upon investigation, police found suspected marijuana and cannabis oil in Donovan’s vehicle. She was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and the violation of unlawful possession of marijuana. She was also issued a traffic ticket for failing to stop at a steady red signal.
The charges will be answered in Ithaca City Court.
