The AHA Development Corporation, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Auburn Housing Authority, been awarded more than $4.5 million from the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corp. to continue renovations.
A total of $4,583,315 was awarded after a competitive process as part of the state’s public housing redevelopment goals, the AHA announced Monday. The funding will be used toward modernizing the Melone Village apartment complex in Auburn.
The apartment complex is composed of 188 units ranging from one to four bedrooms. Currently, 34 units are under renovation and are expected to be completed in July. Twenty-eight units have already been completed.
Now, with the awarded funding, 62 additional units will undergo a gut-rehab, the AHA said. Modernizing the apartments will involve all unit components. New front porches, roofs, windows, sidewalks and playgrounds are to be included.
