A truckload of toys go to needy kids

They called the toy drive Jam the Ram, and jammed that half-truck was on Monday at Canandaigua Dodge Jeep Ram. Games, dolls, puzzles, action figures and more were piled high in the back of the truck. The seats were filled, too.

“I never saw so many toys in one truck,” said Harry Kesel, president of the dealership at 2591 Rochester Road.

Sales manager Matt Yeskey said the drive started the first of the month and the toys kept coming. People were asked to donate new toys, games and puzzles, and that they did — so many that a suggestion that Kesel slide into the seat and look out the back window took a bit of unloading and maneuvering.

Yeskey’s wife, Anna Yeskey, a local business owner and another booster of the drive, said many area businesses and organizations contributed, as well as individuals. People stopping in the dealership couldn’t believe their eyes. The overflowing Dodge Ram made quite a sight parked just inside the entrance.
