Charles Dickens and his cast of over 50 characters caroled their final holiday tunes Monday.
The Dickens Christmas events in Skaneateles wrapped up after five weekends of horse-drawn wagon rides, live music and performances put on by the Dickens team.
Carolers spread their holiday cheer outside shops and businesses on the corner of Jordan and Fennel streets. Because of the touristy buzz around Dickens Christmas, some of those businesses couldn’t be happier with the crowds the events attract.
“Dickens (Christmas) brings more people to the area … it’s a family activity,” said Sarah Wiles, a co-owner of Mid-Lakes Navigation.
Mid-Lakes Navigation, located on Jordan Street, provides an array of daily cruises on Skaneateles Lake. But their cruise season doesn’t kick off until May. Despite the offseason, the Mid-Lakes office remains open through the rest of the year. Sometimes the cruise-and-dine business will book weddings months in advance.
