Some red hot blues will help chase away the winter chills and support the Dundee Area Food Pantry Jan. 25 when Steve Grills and The Roadmasters, featuring special guest Joe Beard, come to Starkey’s Lookout for a special concert.
This is the sixth annual winter concert, according to organizer Bob Sisbarro. But it’s the first to be held at a venue where people can kick up their heels and even enjoy a beer or glass of wine.
Each of these concerts over the years have featured top quality musicians who have toured the country and world, bringing amazing talent to Dundee. The first five concerts, all staged at the Baptist Church, raised a total of $6,554 for the food pantry, which serves people in the Dundee Central School District.
Sisbarro says this year’s performers are from Rochester, but they have performed with some of the best blues musicians in the world.
Sisbarro came up with the idea of a mid-winter concert seven years ago. “I thought that a concert in the middle of the winter would be nice for the community when everyone has cabin fever. I also wanted to do something to help a charity. So I started calling on local business to sponsor the event, which allows us to give all proceeds from the ticket sales to the food pantry,” he says.
