Ithaca firefighters extinguish fire and rescue two cats from South Hill home

Ithaca firefighters extinguished a house fire and rescued two cats from a home in the Town of Ithaca Sunday night.

Firefighters responded to a one-story duplex home at 220 Coddington Road in South Hill and located a fire in a back bedroom, firefighters said.

Firefighters ensured the residents were out and had the fire under control within 20 minutes.

Bangs Ambulance and New York State Police assisted at the scene.

NYSEG crews responded to the scene and secured the utilities and the Town of Ithaca Code Enforcement office was notified. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
