Travel advisory lifted for Ontario County

UPDATE: Ontario County Sheriff Kevin M. Henderson has lifted the travel advisory for all of Ontario County roads and highways as of Thursday afternoon.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Sheriff Kevin M. Henderson has issued a travel advisory for all of Ontario County roads and highways starting immediately until further notice based on conditions. This restriction is not mandatory and is left to the traveling public to public to evaluate their need to be operating a vehicle on Ontario County Highways.

Due to blowing and drifting snow, there are several roads with limited visibility causing dangerous driving conditions. With road conditions and sub-zero temperatures, the Sheriff is recommending no unnecessary travel until conditions improve.

When traveling home from work or other functions, please remember to take extra time in doing so and be sure that you have a charged cellular telephone with you and dial 9-1-1 in an emergency.
