Local sex offender sentenced to 10 months for failure to report address change

A Canandaigua man will spend 10 months in the Ontario County Jail for failing to update his address as a level III sex offender.

Laquan Whitfield, 31, was convicted in August of 2006 of sexual misconduct and deviate sexual intercourse when he was 18-years-old. The victims were two female minors 15 and 16 years old. Whitfield is classified as a Level III sex offender.

After being released for his sex offense, Whitfield quickly found himself back in jail serving a state prison sentence for third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny. While serving that sentence he assaulted a Gouverneur correctional officer and ended up serving a max sentence of 7-years.

According to his sex offender profile, he had previously lived in Billings, Montana before moving back to the area.
