State Police confirmed late-Monday that a body was found inside the second fire first responders were called to in Wayne County yesterday.
The fire was reported a little before 2 p.m. along Cory Corners Road in Marion.
“We have located the body of an adult elderly female at that location. We believe it’s the person we assumed it to be but we will not release the name of that individual until an autopsy is performed tomorrow,” Trooper Mark O’ Donnell told News10NBC.
Fire investigators say the home was a total loss. There was one elderly person inside the home, which fire officials noted was unaccounted for earlier in the day when they arrived on-scene.
A family member confirmed with News10NBC that a relative had left to get food and returned to find the house on fire.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
