A Yates County man is recovering at Strong Memorial Hospital after a tree fell on him over the weekend.
Deputies say 54-year-old Darryl Lemay, of Naples, was cutting trees on Northrup Hill Road in Potter when one of the trees fell the wrong direction.
While Lemay tried to move out of the way – he tripped – and the tree trapped him underneath it.
Deputies say Lemay had stopped at his friend’s home on the way to the woods where he was cutting the trees. Rode discovered the scene and used the chainsaw to cut part of the tree to move it off of Lemay.
Deputies noted that Lemay was only trapped under the tree for approximately five minutes.
However, LifeNet was called to the scene, and he was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with rib, back, and hip injuries.
