The King Ferry Fire Department has secured a pet oxygen mask that it plans to make available to departments in the southern Cayuga County area.
Invisible Fence of the Fingerlakes donated the mask to the department last week.
“Many times during structure fires smoke overcomes people, (and) the one thing that may be overlooked are the pets,” the department said in a press release. “Now the King Ferry Fire Department has a tool to assist them giving oxygen to a pet if it is overcome by smoke. This new equipment will be available by mutual aid to the south end of Cayuga County and Lansing if needed.”
