Gas prices on the rise throughout the region

As the weather gets nicer and people travel for spring break, many drivers are noticing that the price of gas is going up.

As of March 18, the total of a gallon was $2.66. That was nine cents higher than the prior week.

According to AAA Northeast, the average price for a gallon of self serve regular in New York State is 12 cents higher than the national average.

Drivers said that the decreasing prices a month ago were great. However, as the prices started to increase again, they feel the spike came out of nowhere.

"First. it went down. Everybody was feeling really good about it, including me,” said driver Robert Edwards. “Then all of a sudden, I mean overnight, they went up. When I say up, I mean up."

While some drivers said that they were fine with the price increase, others said that they will drive around to find the best price for gas.
