Media day for 2019 Senior PGA Championship at Oak Hill held Tuesday

Paul Broadhurst has never actually played a round on Oak Hill Country Club’s venerable East Course, but that doesn’t mean he’s unaware of the challenge he’ll be undertaking in two months’ time.

“I can’t wait to come back in May and test my game against what is an iconic course,” the 53-year-old Englishman said during a visit to the site of the 2019 Senior PGA Championship.

Broadhurst was in Rochester Monday and Tuesday fulfilling some of his responsibilities as the defending champion of the Senior PGA, and while the course looks rather bland and benign at the moment as it emerges from the long winter, Broadhurst knows what he and the rest of the Champions Tour 50-and-over players are in for once Mother Nature does her thing.

The last time the Senior PGA was contested at Oak Hill in 2008, there were only 11 rounds in the 60s by the entire field, and Jay Haas won with a 7-over-par total.
