Amerks continue playoff drought against Toronto with ringing pipes, leaky defense in Game 1

In two previous Calder Cup playoff series, the Toronto Marlies never lost a game to the Rochester Americans. They’re still perfect.

Paced by Buffalo native Chris Mueller’s two goals and the solid goaltending of Kasimir Kaskisuo, who turned back 29 shots, Toronto beat Rochester 4-1 Friday at the Blue Cross Arena at the Community War Memorial, taking Game 1 of the AHL’s North Division series.

The Marlies, who swept a pair of earlier five-game series, are now 7-0 all-time in the postseason against the Amerks with a 26-12 edge in goals.

So much for history not meaning anything when the playoffs are at hand. Rochester, which was swept a year ago in the first round by Syracuse, is 0-4 in playoff games under coach Chris Taylor.
